The Whakapapa Ski Field on Mount Ruapehu is only a 40 minute drive away, where the winter slopes will provide outstanding skiing and snowboarding opportunities.
The Ski Field opens mid to late June each year and the season runs through to the end of October.
Timber Trail Cycle Trail
Utilising historic bush tramways and old bulldozer roads through forestry this 85km trail features 35 bridges (including 8 suspended bridges).
